Model Making Ham Radio

GW6IMS Pat Vernalls

I came to work in north Wales in 1968. Got married to Isobel in 1969 and moved into present house in May 1969.

Studied for the RAE at Coleg Dolgellau in 1981 with an old work colleague and took the December exam, we both passed, I became GW6IMS in June 1982.Took my friend to Anglesey Radio to take the C W and he passed and became GW4PHB Bill Vickers, in 1982. As a 'B' class I mainly worked on two meters, I later was elected on to the committee of the A R Group, and built a repeater GB3CG on 70Cm,the cavity filters built for GB3CG are now on GB3AN on Anglesey, and went on to build "two meter" filters for packet nodes.  I worked 23Cm ATV for a while & did some work on 10 Gigs with my old pal Ralph GW2HCJ (Silent key) .

I have a good workshop and now build model steam engines, mainly from castings.

I run my two meter station from solar power,32 watts in shack and 9 watts in shed.
